Proactive monitoring

Remote Player Monitoring is a critical issue of any Digital Signage deployment.

The network administrators should have access to accurate data and information of the correct operation of the remote Players of the Digital Signage rollout.

MCP integrates two technologies to allow acurate monitoring the state of the Players.

Nagios

Nagios is a recognized Open Source monitoring system that is used worldwide for monitoring servers and any device that supports SNMP (Simple Network Monitoring Protocol) or other protocols such as NRPE, NSCA, RMON, etc..

Nagios monitor the MCP remote Players, through an agent included in MCP Player. This monitoring is not in Real Time. The agent installed on the Player reports the status of the server itself at intervals of 5 minutes (configurable setting). Nagios is especially useful for monitoring historical reports.

XMPP

The XMPP message distribution network ntegrated in MCP allows Player monitoring in Real Time, which can be checked On-Demand basis.

With XMPP, a user can ask for a MCP status request, updating a group of Players, and they respond in Real Time reporting its status, for example, "in Play" or "Stopped".
